West Memphis Stadium

Seating: 1709, VIP seats: 0) Piedmont AFC's Reed Novak started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Val Dickerson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reed Novak in the 3rd minute of play. Val Dickerson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reed Novak in the 5th minute of play. After 5 played minutes West Memphis got a freekick which was hit by Rhett Singh. In the 12th minute Reed Novak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Val Dickerson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Johnnie Beam during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 13 minutes into the game, one of West Memphis:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Piedmont AFC a penalty, 15 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Joe Albert, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of West Memphis's Val Dickerson. 0-1. West Memphis's Ward Rosales suffered a concussion in the 22nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tom Sutton during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 23rd match minute, Piedmont AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tom Sutton to maneuver through the defense. In the 26thth minute of the game Reed Novak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but West Memphis's Val Dickerson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When D.J. Burns fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored West Memphis's protests and gave D.J. Burns a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Piedmont AFC booed when West Memphis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. D.J. Burns didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Reed Novak managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piedmont AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Reed Novak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Val Dickerson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Val Dickerson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reed Novak in the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Steven Dickey left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Piedmont AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Steven Dickey struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Val Dickerson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piedmont AFC. Marvin Manning might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Val Dickerson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marvin Manning ran back to his position shaking his head. When Tom Sutton came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Piedmont AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tom Sutton couldn't finish the play. When Piedmont AFC's Reed Novak in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye West Memphis's goalie prevented a goal. Steven Dickey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Val Dickerson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Marvin Manning ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Val Dickerson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Merlin Fritz made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Marvin Manning managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piedmont AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marvin Manning was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Val Dickerson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 53rd minute, Tom Sutton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tom Sutton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute, Marvin Manning fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Val Dickerson, passed just outside the right post. Val Dickerson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marvin Manning, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. If Reed Novak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marvin Manning fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Val Dickerson having to interfere. Reed Novak received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Val Dickerson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tom Sutton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Val Dickerson having to interfere. 74 minutes in the game, Gregg Hare fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Val Dickerson having to interfere. A collision led to West Memphis getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. D.J. Burns hit a great ball. Tom Sutton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Val Dickerson having to interfere. The supporters of West Memphis booed when Piedmont AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joe Albert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marvin Manning recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind West Memphis's goalkeeper Val Dickerson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tom Sutton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marvin Manning sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Val Dickerson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reed Novak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. West Memphis's Val Dickerson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marvin Manning in the 93rd minute of play. In the last second Val Dickerson throw himself and got hold of the ball when Reed Novak in the 95thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. When the match was over Piedmont AFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than West Memphis throughout the match.
