Von Russo charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Von Russo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 9th match minute, Winterset was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Von Russo to maneuver through the defense. 17 minutes into the match, Rancho Rinconada AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Scottie Hinds came free, but Jackson Cummings reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Scottie Hinds sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 25th minute, Scottie Hinds left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Winterset fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Gilberto Vela struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Ernesto Malone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rancho Rinconada AFC. Joey Holden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Ernesto Malone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, Rancho Rinconada AFC's Emery Key nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ernesto Malone made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Scottie Hinds in the 46th minute of play forced Rancho Rinconada AFC's goalkeeper Jackson Cummings to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Rancho Rinconada AFC's zone, Tyler Haywood stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jackson Cummings came out of the goal and Tyler Haywood tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Gilberto Vela made the kick off in the second half. Tyler Haywood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jackson Cummings having to interfere. When Gilberto Vela came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Rancho Rinconada AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto Vela couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Winterset's Quinn Sharpe got a free kick in the 79th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Winterset's zone, Joey Holden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Malone came out of the goal and Joey Holden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Tyler Haywood came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Winterset fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tyler Haywood couldn't finish the play. Ernesto Malone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Vela, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Ernesto Malone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilberto Vela in the 93rd minute of play. 99 minutes into the match, Winterset's goal looked a bit too open when Joey Holden came free, but Ernesto Malone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
