In the 14th minute Dave Gifford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Randolph Parish saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hardin's Byron Schaefer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Hardin from getting a goal against them. Rod Jameson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Joesph Mosley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hardin's supporters rose to their feet, but Joesph Mosley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Randolph Parish breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 29 played minutes Hardin got a freekick which was hit by Shelby Gibbons. If Rod Jameson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the game, Robbie Brandon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Byron Schaefer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Dave Gifford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. Randolph Parish took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Gifford, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sterling Yarbrough's late challenge caught a Hardin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sterling Yarbrough helped the player get up and apologised. In the 76th minute, Sterling Yarbrough hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Landon Atkinson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Randolph Parish having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Gifford in the 92nd minute of play forced El Cajon FC's goalkeeper Randolph Parish to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Landon Atkinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Landon Atkinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hardin players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for El Cajon FC.
