Byron Hicks who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 7thth minute tested the skills of Lane English when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Icard FC's Bradley Ivey got a free kick in the 12th minute. 18 minutes into the game, Leonard French lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Lane English. Brad Sullivan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Shelton Darby having to make a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Leonard French kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lane English. That made the score 3-0 in the 23 minute of play. The Knoxville United fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Knoxville United's Byron Hicks looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 30th minute, Knoxville United's Leonard French dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-0. Lane English made an important save on a dangerous shot by Byron Hicks in the 33rd minute. 37 minutes into the match, Byron Hicks notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Icard FC's Lane English. Lane English was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 41 played minutes Knoxville United got a freekick which was hit by Andrew Pennington. Marty Means sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Icard FC's Brad Sullivan got a free kick in the 45th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Icard FC's goal looked a bit too open when Leonard French came free, but Lane English reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Knoxville United booed when Icard FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Pendleton didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leonard French to make the kick off. Lane English made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Byron Hicks in the 53rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Icard FC's Bradley Ivey got a free kick in the 54th minute. When Leonard French came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Knoxville United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonard French couldn't finish the play. Leonard French received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Lane English tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Icard FC's goal looked a bit too open when Leonard French came free, but Lane English reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Icard FC getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Bradley Ivey hit a great ball. Miles Soto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 72nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lane English. Icard FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Joesph Skaggs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 74 minutes into the game, Miles Soto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Lane English was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lane English made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonard French in the 78th minute of play. Icard FC's Lane English played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonard French in the 92nd minute of play. In the 96th minute, Leonard French made a precise shot to the right of Lane English. Icard FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-0. When the referee ended the match the Knoxville United players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
