After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro off game's zone, Daniel McNeil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jerome Rouse came out of the goal and Daniel McNeil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel McNeil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Jerome Rouse made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
