The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rolland Newcomb succeeded in the game's 4th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. After some careless play in the Borrego Springs defense, Shannon Starks kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Barry Villalobos. The Borrego Springs fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Barry Villalobos should have stopped the shot. Barry Villalobos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rolland Newcomb in the 13th minute of the match. Rolland Newcomb recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shannon Starks in the 16th minute of play forced Borrego Springs's goalkeeper Barry Villalobos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute of the match Tod Thompson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Barry Villalobos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 20th match minute, Fort Hood was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernie Pryor to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Derick Blanco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Borrego Springs's supporters rose to their feet, but Derick Blanco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oren Lund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oren Lund made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Derick Blanco sent off a good shot on target. 29 minutes into the match, Borrego Springs's goal looked a bit too open when Rolland Newcomb came free, but Barry Villalobos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Shannon Starks struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Barry Villalobos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fort Hood. Barry Villalobos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shannon Starks in the 35th minute of the match. Rolland Newcomb took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Barry Villalobos. Barry Villalobos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Leo Goodson kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Derick Blanco's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 44thth minute, Oren Lund skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Shannon Starks stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Rolland Newcomb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oren Lund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Derick Blanco in the 60th minute of the match. When Shannon Starks came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Fort Hood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shannon Starks couldn't finish the play. Barry Villalobos was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Shannon Starks capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Shannon Starks really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. In the 72nd minute Derick Blanco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oren Lund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Borrego Springs's goalkeeper Barry Villalobos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rolland Newcomb. If Shannon Starks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nathan Haines struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Barry Villalobos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fort Hood. Fort Hood's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
