Shelton Landrum received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Benny Levy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Casey Anderson made a precise shot to the right of Benny Levy. Lexington's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 26th minute, Mason Merritt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Shelton Landrum fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benny Levy having to interfere. In the 39th match minute, Lexington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Shipp to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Cottonport were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Casey Anderson was the one to do the kick off. When Quintin Sykes fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cottonport's protests and gave Quintin Sykes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 50th minute, Quintin Sykes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Mason Merritt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lexington's supporters rose to their feet, but Mason Merritt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ryan Chu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Shelton Landrum took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Benny Levy to make any attempt to save it. If Shelton Landrum had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Lexington getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. David Cowan hit a great ball. During the 61st minute of the match Quintin Sykes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Quintin Sykes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diego Woodson in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ryan Chu saved Cottonport from getting behind. In the 68th minute, Shelton Landrum left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cottonport fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. If Mason Merritt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cottonport fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 78th minute. Penalty! Ronald Benitez kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. 86 minutes into the match, Diego Woodson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ryan Chu. Cottonport's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diego Woodson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-5. If Shelton Landrum had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute, Diego Woodson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Cottonport walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
