To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raymundo Stanford made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Van Childress sent off a good shot on target. American Dream's Raymundo Stanford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roland Dozier in the 8th minute of play. In the 23rd minute of the match, Donnie Hutchins tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Raymundo Stanford saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Tyrone Gallegos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute, Benjamin Carrasco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tyler Hays was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Wilfredo Alvarado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Detroit FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. American Dream were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Benjamin Carrasco to strike the kick off in the second half. Raymundo Stanford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Roman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. American Dream's Wilfredo Alvarado got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Wilfredo Alvarado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilfredo Alvarado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Tyler Hays tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benjamin Carrasco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 77th match minute, American Dream was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duke Butler to maneuver through the defense. 94 minutes into the game, Vernon Berg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. American Dream's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Detroit FC the free kick. In the 94th match minute, American Dream was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vernon Berg to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle went the supporters of American Dream were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Detroit FC side.
