A collision led to Irmo FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Lincoln Cope hit a great ball. Mattoon's Raymundo Clemons managed to work through Irmo FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Raymundo Clemons dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 24 minutes into the game, DeAndre Tobin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mattoon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Irmo FC the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryan Arnold in the 25th minute of play forced Mattoon's goalkeeper Ezra Patten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ezra Patten made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Gilbert Kent sent off a good shot on target. In the 37th minute of the match Raymundo Myers sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Royce Hawthorne skillfully saved the ball. Ezra Patten was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bryan Arnold showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 40 minute of play. Royce Hawthorne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raymundo Clemons in the 43rd minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bryan Arnold to make the kick off. In the 51st minute Gilbert Kent shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ezra Patten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leif McNeill's late challenge caught a Irmo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leif McNeill helped the player get up and apologised. Leif McNeill kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Bryan Arnold's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ezra Patten read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. With his leg Royce Hawthorne managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Mattoon's DeAndre Tobin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gilbert Kent sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 80 minutes into the match, Irmo FC's goalkeeper Royce Hawthorne had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by DeAndre Tobin. DeAndre Tobin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Royce Hawthorne made a huge save. Irmo FC's Royce Hawthorne played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raymundo Clemons in the 86th minute of play. Ezra Patten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryan Arnold in the 91st minute of play. Ezra Patten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bryan Arnold in the 94th minute of the match.
