With an all-out effort, Chelseafc's Luke Schaffer threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kory Major, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Al Latham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luke Schaffer having to interfere. Jerome Darnell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wes Shipley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Al Latham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rashad Barnes hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Al Latham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luke Schaffer having to interfere. Chelseafc's Wes Shipley got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 30 minutes of play, Sugar Creek's Jerome Darnell made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kory Frey was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerome Darnell in the 35th minute of play forced Chelseafc's goalkeeper Kory Frey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute, Al Latham hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jerome Darnell came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Sugar Creek fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jerome Darnell couldn't finish the play. In the 38thth minute of the game Jerome Darnell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chelseafc's Kory Frey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Chelseafc booed when Sugar Creek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Byers didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 46 minutes, Heriberto Gilliam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sugar Creek's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heriberto Gilliam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 47 minutes into the match, Sugar Creek's Jerome Darnell sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kory Frey narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Chelseafc players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sugar Creek were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wes Shipley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Jerome Darnell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kory Frey was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Chelseafc's zone, Kirk Ciccaglione stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kory Frey came out of the goal and Kirk Ciccaglione tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Heriberto Gilliam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Kory Frey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Deon Jacobs fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chelseafc's protests and gave Deon Jacobs a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Chelseafc fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 73rd minute. Penalty! Kirk Ciccaglione shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerome Darnell in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kory Frey saved Chelseafc from getting behind. Jerome Darnell's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 76thth minute, Kory Frey skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 77th minute Al Latham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luke Schaffer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kirk Ciccaglione struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Kory Frey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sugar Creek. A hard shot 87 in the game by Jerome Darnell from a close distance when the talented Kory Frey managed to make a qualified save. Chelseafc's players were relieved. Kory Frey made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Jerome Darnell sent off a good shot on target.
