Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Manuel Daley started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filiberto Teague in the 4th minute of play forced Gainesville's goalkeeper Davis Guzman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 5 minutes into the match, Nelson Gagne notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Gainesville's Davis Guzman. Davis Guzman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wallace Newman during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Wallace Newman kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After having played for 9 minutes, Nelson Gagne managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Covington ZSC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson Gagne was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Davis Guzman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filiberto Teague, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nelson Gagne in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Davis Guzman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Covington ZSC's zone, Manuel Daley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rigoberto Thurston came out of the goal and Manuel Daley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Gainesville defense, Nelson Gagne kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Davis Guzman. The Gainesville fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Davis Guzman should have stopped the shot. After having played for 24 minutes, Manuel Daley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gainesville's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Daley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edgar Lang kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Rigoberto Thurston didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Aurelio Thomson went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 33 minutes into the game, Walton Hanson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Covington ZSC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gainesville the free kick. After a rather tough play, Covington ZSC's Walton Hanson got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After recieving a nice pass, Gainesville's Chuck Milton tried to score from far away in the 34th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Aurelio Thomson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rigoberto Thurston having to interfere. Nelson Gagne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Filiberto Teague was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 53rd minute. Covington ZSC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 60 minutes into the match, Covington ZSC's Nelson Gagne sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Davis Guzman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Manuel Daley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Daley in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rigoberto Thurston prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Covington ZSC's Filiberto Teague got a free kick in the 70th minute. The supporters of Covington ZSC booed when Gainesville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Lang didn't get a good kick on the ball. Covington ZSC's Nelson Gagne got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Filiberto Teague recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Manuel Daley came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Gainesville fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Daley couldn't finish the play. In the 83rd minute, Manuel Daley ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rigoberto Thurston was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Gainesville's Manuel Daley got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nelson Gagne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Gainesville fans cheered their team off the field, for while Covington ZSC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
