After a defensive mix-up in Wintersville's zone, Rolf Spaulding stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dan Quintanas short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Johnathan Bradley to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rolf Spaulding during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rolf Spaulding kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Benjamin Knutson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Wintersville's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave South Plainfield the free kick. In the 95th match minute, Wintersville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boyce Thomas to maneuver through the defense. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
