Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Noah French kicked off to start the match. In the 4thth minute of the game Rolf Spaulding who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brighton's Richard Suarez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of South Plainfield booed when Brighton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mason Stafford didn't get a good kick on the ball. Domingo Lyons fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bart Walton having to interfere. Domingo Lyons received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Bart Walton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to South Plainfield getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Jamar Barrera hit a great ball. South Plainfield's Bart Walton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Domingo Lyons in the 32nd minute of play. Noah French received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Bart Walton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Brighton's Domingo Lyons sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bart Walton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rolf Spaulding made a kick off. The supporters of South Plainfield booed when Brighton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daryl Mata didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 64 minutes into the game, when Sydney Mullins put in a rough tackle. In the 63rd minute, one of South Plainfield:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for South Plainfield. When the match had been going on for 66 minutes, Brighton's Mason Stafford got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Bart Walton. After having played for 71 minutes, Dan Quintana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. South Plainfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Quintana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Noah French might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bart Walton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Noah French ran back to his position shaking his head. When Domingo Lyons came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Brighton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Domingo Lyons couldn't finish the play. Noah French's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bart Walton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. In the 84th minute, Dan Quintana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Brighton booed when South Plainfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Derrick Collier didn't get a good kick on the ball. When South Plainfield's Dan Quintana in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Richard Suarez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dan Quintana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gabriel Bolden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Suarez having to interfere. The Brighton supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Brighton would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
