A collision led to Metter getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Marvin Merrill hit a great ball. Ruben Valentine's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 16thth minute, Romeo Norris skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Greg Moseley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Woody Hinkle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ruben Valentine who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Romeo Norris when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Rodney Pace received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Romeo Norris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th match minute, Metter was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lorenzo Shafer to maneuver through the defense. Ruben Valentines short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Romeo Norris to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donnie Velez in the 35th minute of play forced Vancouver FC's goalkeeper Woody Hinkle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes into the game, Vancouver FC's Ruben Valentine nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Romeo Norris made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Metter's Donnie Velez got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rodney Pace stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Marvin Merrill hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st minute, Greg Moseley reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Woody Hinkle. The goal made the score 1-1. Rodney Pace sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 72 minutes into the match, Rodney Pace had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romeo Norris. Metter's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rodney Pace was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 82nd minute, Ruben Valentine ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Romeo Norris was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Donnie Velez might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Woody Hinkle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Donnie Velez ran back to his position shaking his head. Greg Moseley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rodney Pace during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Metter booed when Vancouver FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodney Pace didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vancouver FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
