Channel Islands Beach's Russell Delong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leroy Kauffman in the 24th minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Woody Lemon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Channel Islands Beach's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mill Creek the free kick. Mill Creek's Warner Alston proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Mill Creek from getting a goal against them. Leroy Kauffman might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Russell Delong. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leroy Kauffman ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 38th minute Leroy Kauffman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Russell Delong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Channel Islands Beach's Russell Delong tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Channel Islands Beach's Wilton Fountain got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mill Creek's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
