The referee ignored Valley Stream AFC's protests and gave German Shafer a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, one of Valley Stream AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Valley Stream AFC. Heriberto Guidry recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. South Houston FC's Chase Odom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save South Houston FC from getting a goal against them. Chase Odom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Garrett Spaulding, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th match minute, South Houston FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norbert Swenson to maneuver through the defense. Tommy Prather showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heriberto Guidry in the 27th minute of the match. Jeremiah Carrillo charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremiah Carrillo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Valley Stream AFC booed when South Houston FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeremiah Carrillo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Milo Cano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Valley Stream AFC's Tim Avila, in the 36th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Valley Stream AFC. After 37 minutes, Jamar Sherrill mouthed his way into the referee's book. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Garrett Spaulding to make the kick off. In the 70th minute of the match Jeremiah Carrillo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Prather skillfully saved the ball. The coaching staff of South Houston FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bernardo Holman had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in South Houston FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 88th minute. Penalty! Valley Stream AFC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
