The long shot by Micah Mendez in the 4th minute really tested Kip Correa's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When %teams%'s Jack Clifford was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 1-0 just inside the left pole, 6 minutes into the game. Kip Correa was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Tim Moody took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Winfred Ladner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute, Winfred Ladner ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tim Moody was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 16 minutes of play, Icard's Winfred Ladner made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tim Moody was left in no man's land by his defense there! Colorado Rapids's Tim Moody played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Winfred Ladner in the 19th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Colorado Rapids's Kurt Driver got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 21st minute, Winfred Ladner made a precise shot to the right of Tim Moody. Colorado Rapids's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Tim Moody didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Denver Bachman went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Tim Moody took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Winfred Ladner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sydney Rowley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 32 played minutes Icard got a freekick which was hit by Sydney Rowley. Jack Clifford's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Kip Correa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 40th match minute, Colorado Rapids was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theodore Randall to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Winfred Ladner in the 44th minute of play forced Colorado Rapids's goalkeeper Tim Moody to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the game, Icard's Jess Daly nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tim Moody made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. After the first half Icard were leading 1-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Colorado Rapids made a substitution. Rupert Parra replaced Jack Clifford. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rupert Parra to make the kick off. Neal Dawkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Kip Correa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th match minute, Icard was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jess Daly to maneuver through the defense. If Neal Dawkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Winfred Ladner in the 68th minute of play forced Colorado Rapids's goalkeeper Tim Moody to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tim Moody made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sydney Rowley in the 69th minute. After 82 minutes, Sydney Rowley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Icard and the Colorado Rapids players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 82 played minutes Icard got a freekick which was hit by Sydney Rowley. Tim Moody made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Winfred Ladner in the 85th minute of play. Sydney Rowley's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tim Moody firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 92ndth minute of the game Rupert Parra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Icard's Kip Correa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jess Daly charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jess Daly the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jess Daly hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Kurt Driver hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Winfred Ladner's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tim Moody read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. Tim Moody took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jess Daly, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Icard supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Icard would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
