The audience thought a goal was coming when Robbie Ortega got free with Rey Ivy in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rey Ivy was out of position in the 7 minute of play, and Simon Flint capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Simon Flint really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. The supporters of Eau Claire United booed when Elton Vale First was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Woodrow Crosby didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rey Ivy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Robbie Ortega in the 13th minute. Robbie Ortega received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rey Ivy came out and tried to block the shot, but Robbie Ortega slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 24th minute. Ramon Correa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bradley Dent, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Bradley Dent sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Eau Claire United defense, Domingo Burkhart kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ramon Correa. The Eau Claire United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ramon Correa should have stopped the shot. In the 36th minute Bradley Dent shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramon Correa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Domingo Burkhart made a precise shot to the right of Ramon Correa. Eau Claire United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Eau Claire United's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
