After 4 played minutes kylethornton got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Mobley. In the 7th match minute, kylethornton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dominique Mack to maneuver through the defense. When Terry Espinoza came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Imperial Beach fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Terry Espinoza couldn't finish the play. kylethornton's Brant Katz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Terry Espinoza in the 18th minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Charlie Guidry was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Neil Smart had great luck who in the 25thth minute grab hold of the ball when Son Lovett from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Terry Espinoza in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brant Katz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Terry Espinoza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brant Katz having to interfere. Imperial Beach's Neil Smart played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Son Lovett in the 33rd minute of play. Leland Cartwright received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Brant Katz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the game, DeMarcus Duarte was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. kylethornton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Imperial Beach the free kick. Brant Katz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Imperial Beach. Brant Katz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Terry Espinoza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Son Lovett to make the kick off. Terry Espinoza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Sung Dudley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Imperial Beach's zone, Jerome Aguirre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neil Smart came out of the goal and Jerome Aguirre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jerome Aguirre struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Neil Smart didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for kylethornton. That made the score 0-1 in the 70 minute of play. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by kylethornton's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Clay Bonilla was slow to take the kick. During this time Imperial Beach's players had a chance to rest. In the 78th minute, Imperial Beach's Terry Espinoza dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. If Terry Espinoza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle sounded Imperial Beach left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than kylethornton.
