The supporters of Lake Providence booed when Civic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lance Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lake Providence's Freddy Edwards played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Randall Sampson in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Abraham Irizarry got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Abraham Irizarry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chad Lackey in the 26th minute of play forced Civic's goalkeeper Cristopher Metzger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Civic booed when Lake Providence was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Chadwick didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Lake Providence were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Chad Lackey to strike the kick off in the second half. Chad Lackey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 60 minutes into the match, Civic's goalkeeper Cristopher Metzger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gabriel Rivers. After 65 played minutes Lake Providence got a freekick which was hit by Benito Strong. If Randall Sampson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gabriel Rivers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristopher Metzger having to interfere. When Jacob Copeland fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lake Providence's protests and gave Jacob Copeland a yellow card for diving instead. In the 94th minute, Jacob Copeland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Lake Providence supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lake Providence would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
