Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Reading's Fletcher Chandler started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Richie Henderson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Milford Mill's Allen Herring. Allen Herring was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Reading getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Jerome Gregg hit a great ball. Matthew Sanderson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, Lee Leon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matthew Sanderson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without J.P. Gann having to interfere. Matthew Sandersons short, quick shot in the 23rdth minute got J.P. Gann to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lee Leon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. J.P. Gann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, Milford Mill's Rob Newton broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. J.P. Gann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matthew Sanderson in the 31st minute. Matthew Sanderson might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over J.P. Gann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matthew Sanderson ran back to his position shaking his head. Manuel McDonough received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Allen Herring tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Fletcher Chandler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richie Henderson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Allen Herring having to make a save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After 62 played minutes Milford Mill got a freekick which was hit by Collin Dean. 65 minutes in the game, Fletcher Chandler fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Allen Herring having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, Milford Mill's goalkeeper Allen Herring had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Richie Henderson. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matthew Sanderson in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg J.P. Gann saved Reading from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lee Leon in the 71st minute of play forced Reading's goalkeeper J.P. Gann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Richie Henderson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Allen Herring having to interfere. Milford Mill's Perry Cano suffered a sprained foot after 77 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 78th match minute, Reading was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel McDonough to maneuver through the defense. Reading's Richie Henderson got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
