Ricky Doty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabian Kent having to interfere. Hugo Pruitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Ruff having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neal Askew in the 17th minute of play forced Swarthmore AFC's goalkeeper Fabian Kent to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Reynaldo Witherspoon during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 21 played minutes Genoa CFC got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo Witherspoon. In the 22nd minute, Hugo Pruitt made a precise shot to the right of Leon Ruff. Genoa CFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Hugo Pruitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Ruff having to interfere. Genoa CFC's Leon Ruff played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rick Cano in the 26th minute of play. In the 31st match minute, Genoa CFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reynaldo Witherspoon to maneuver through the defense. 32 minutes into the match, Genoa CFC's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Pruitt came free, but Leon Ruff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rdth minute of the game Hugo Pruitt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Genoa CFC's Leon Ruff was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leon Ruff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Pruitt in the 36th minute of play. Hugo Pruitt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Quinn Lowry hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The Genoa CFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Swarthmore AFC were winning 0-1.

Fabian Kent made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricky Doty in the 52nd minute of play. If Ricky Doty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Hugo Pruitt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Swarthmore AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Pruitt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leon Ruff breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 65th minute of the match Walter Connolly shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fabian Kent showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Genoa CFC booed when Swarthmore AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Houston Knutson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricky Doty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bradley Bolton kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. With a little luck, Genoa CFC's Leon Ruff got control of the ball when Hugo Pruitt tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Pruitt got free with Leon Ruff in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 85 played minutes Swarthmore AFC got a freekick which was hit by Sid Landry. 87 minutes into the match, Hugo Pruitt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leon Ruff. Genoa CFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hugo Pruitt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Swarthmore AFC's Hugo Pruitt was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 93rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The Swarthmore AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Swarthmore AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
