Frederick's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kristopher Pierce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marshall Hager in the 5th minute of play forced Boricua Islanders's goalkeeper Curt Lugo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Curt Lugo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kristopher Pierce in the 6th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristopher Pierce in the 8th minute of play forced Boricua Islanders's goalkeeper Curt Lugo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute of the match Frederick got a corner. Boricua Islanders's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daron Lozano ran over to the corner to take the kick. Kenny Mott kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Rigoberto Bruner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jess Gabriel kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Kristopher Pierce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Damien Rowley charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Damien Rowley the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 23 played minutes Boricua Islanders got a freekick which was hit by Damien Rowley. Curt Lugo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rigoberto Bruner in the 24th minute of the match. Simon Murdock blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lawrence Bachman having to make a save. Simon Murdock kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. In the 29thth minute of the game Rigoberto Bruner who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Boricua Islanders's Curt Lugo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Frederick's Rigoberto Bruner got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kristopher Pierce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kristopher Pierce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Curt Lugo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kristopher Pierce in the 52nd minute of play. After 53 minutes, Ethan Hartman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Boricua Islanders and the Frederick players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 54th minute, Frederick's Rigoberto Bruner ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Curt Lugo. Curt Lugo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. Curt Lugo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kristopher Pierce, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 59th minute, Tom Williamson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rigoberto Bruner might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Curt Lugo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rigoberto Bruner ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 64th minute, Frederick's Kristopher Pierce dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Boricua Islanders's Curt Lugo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Boricua Islanders from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Boricua Islanders's Curt Lugo got control of the ball when Rigoberto Bruner tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Frederick getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Daron Lozano hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Boricua Islanders's zone, Kristopher Pierce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Curt Lugo came out of the goal and Kristopher Pierce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rigoberto Bruner got free with Curt Lugo in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Boricua Islanders's zone, Kristopher Pierce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Curt Lugo came out of the goal and Kristopher Pierce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Boricua Islanders fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Frederick were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
