Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Portland Timbers's Leonardo Conn started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Filiberto Tyler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ferdinand Bergstrom was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Portland Timbers's Wilbert Randle got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Leonardo Conn notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Jal AFC's Wallace Larson. Wallace Larson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Portland Timbers's Wilbert Randle got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wilbert Randle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Portland Timbers's zone, Damon Justice stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ferdinand Bergstrom came out of the goal and Damon Justice tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Damon Justice received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Ferdinand Bergstrom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Filiberto Tyler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 33 played minutes, Jal AFC's Dominique Russell shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ferdinand Bergstrom came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Jal AFC reached it. Wilbert Randle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 38 minutes, Wilbert Randle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portland Timbers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilbert Randle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jal AFC's Filiberto Tyler got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Damon Justice had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute, Genaro Jernigan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filiberto Tyler in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ferdinand Bergstrom saved Portland Timbers from getting behind. Jal AFC were awarded a corner in the 50th minute after Portland Timbers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. J.C. Thurston took the corner. Jal AFC's J.C. Thurston was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ferdinand Bergstrom in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The Jal AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Portland Timbers were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Filiberto Tyler made a kick off. Wilbert Randle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Wallace Larson made a huge save. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 58th minute of the game. One of Jal AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Portland Timbers:s goal. When the match had been going on for 59 minutes, Portland Timbers's Parker Herron got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Wallace Larson. Leonardo Lane charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leonardo Lane the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jal AFC's goalkeeper Wallace Larson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Portland Timbers defense, Tyrone Powell kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ferdinand Bergstrom. The Portland Timbers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ferdinand Bergstrom should have stopped the shot. Wilbert Randle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 88 minutes into the game, Quintin Brannon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jal AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Portland Timbers the free kick. Damon Justice sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Filiberto Tyler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Ferdinand Bergstrom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Damon Justice fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferdinand Bergstrom having to interfere. The Portland Timbers players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
