With a little luck, Vandalia FC's Davis Valdez got control of the ball when Myles Klein tried to sneak it across the goal line. Davis Valdez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bob Groves went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Jamul FC's Bob Groves got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 19 minutes into the match, Vandalia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pete Edmondson came free, but Davis Valdez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Todd House hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Bob Groves sped through Vandalia FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Davis Valdez. Vandalia FC's Davis Valdez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Vandalia FC from getting a goal against them. In the 29th match minute, Jamul FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kelly Erickson to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Jamul FC's zone, Dominique Tinsley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neil Maher came out of the goal and Dominique Tinsley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Davis Valdez made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Bob Groves sent off a good shot on target. After 36 minutes, Gabriel Faulk mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vandalia FC and the Jamul FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match had been going on for 38 minutes Dominique Tinsley shot a great shot from long distance. It looked like a certain goal, but the audience witnessed a really smashing save by Neil Maher when he caught the ball only just under the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bob Groves in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Davis Valdez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bob Groves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Davis Valdez made a huge save. In the 45th minute Kelly Erickson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Davis Valdez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Salvatore Nesbitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Neil Maher having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dominique Tinsley was the one to do the kick off. When Bob Groves fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jamul FC's protests and gave Bob Groves a yellow card for diving instead. Bob Groves kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Bob Groves struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Davis Valdez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jamul FC. In the 57th minute, Bob Groves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Davis Valdez was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bob Groves in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Davis Valdez saved Vandalia FC from getting behind. Neil Maher made an important save on a dangerous shot by Salvatore Nesbitt in the 75th minute. Davis Valdez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pete Edmondson in the 78th minute of the match. Davis Valdez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brady Blackburn in the 85th minute of play. In the 94thth minute of the game Bob Groves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vandalia FC's Davis Valdez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dominique Tinsley received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Neil Maher came out and tried to block the shot, but Dominique Tinsley slotted it home off the left post making it 4-1 in the 96th minute.
