With a little luck, Holtville's Wyatt Walls got control of the ball when Boyd Roark tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dustin Fox sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wyatt Walls went to the wrong direction when Bryan Daley was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Rod Holley made the kick off in the second half. When Rod Holley came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Mercer fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rod Holley couldn't finish the play. After having played for 56 minutes, Boyd Roark managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mercer's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boyd Roark was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rod Holley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wyatt Walls having to interfere. After some careless play in the Holtville defense, Rod Holley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wyatt Walls. The Holtville fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wyatt Walls should have stopped the shot. Dustin Fox's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Harvey Gipson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 71st minute by Gordon Carbajal got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gordon Carbajal got free with Harvey Gipson in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Boyd Roark during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 74th match minute, Mercer was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boyd Roark to maneuver through the defense. Vern Walls charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Harvey Gipson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mercer's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
