But to his dismay, Rod Holley quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 17th minute, Boyd Roark made a precise shot to the right of Devin Landers. Mahopac AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandy Dubose in the 37th minute of play forced Mercer's goalkeeper Harvey Gipson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Mercer's goal looked a bit too open when Sandy Dubose came free, but Harvey Gipson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Mercer's Rod Holley in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mahopac AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rod Holley made a kick off. Wilfred Bauman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Napoleon Anthony fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mahopac AFC's protests and gave Napoleon Anthony a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Mahopac AFC's Napoleon Anthony got a free kick in the 58th minute. In the 60th minute, Rod Holley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Harvey Gipson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sandy Dubose, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Rod Holley struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Devin Landers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mercer. Mahopac AFC's Devin Landers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rod Holley in the 75th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Wilfred Bauman made a precise shot to the right of Harvey Gipson. Mercer's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Curt Gaston charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Curt Gaston the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 93 minutes into the game, Wilfred Bauman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mahopac AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mercer the free kick. Devin Landers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rod Holley's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Mahopac AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
