Greg Potter came out of the goal and Gordon Carbajal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute of the match, Dustin Fox tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Greg Potter saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Holtville's Wyatt Walls played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Mejia in the 16th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mike Crews during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mike Crews hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darius Dow in the 42nd minute of play forced Holtville's goalkeeper Wyatt Walls to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute, Gordon Carbajal fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 51 minutes, Rudolph Arrington mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the DeReliNquO AMoR 1990 and the Holtville players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 51st match minute, DeReliNquO AMoR 1990 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudolph Arrington to maneuver through the defense. Merrill Meredith charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The audience was convinced that Kurt Mejia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wyatt Walls was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Wyatt Walls made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Darius Dow sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Gordon Carbajal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Holtville's supporters rose to their feet, but Gordon Carbajal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Greg Potter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
