After a defensive mix-up in Borussia Dortmund's zone, Jeremiah Colbert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wes Boyles came out of the goal and Jeremiah Colbert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Josh Irving could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Wes Boyles made a huge save. Darren Bender's late challenge caught a FC Vilseck's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Darren Bender helped the player get up and apologised. If Gilberto Glenn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute Josh Irving shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wes Boyles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilberto Glenn struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Wes Boyles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Vilseck. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Vilseck fully deserved thier win.
