In the 4th minute Willie Weldon suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ned Warren during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of FC Barcelona booed when West Dundee was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ned Warren didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Douglass Minton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gilberto German was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. In the 10th match minute, FC Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sol Muniz to maneuver through the defense. Wayne Joseph received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Trey Young tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wayne Joseph was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 19th minute. Gilberto German came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by West Dundee's Douglass Minton. But to his dismay, Douglass Minton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Wayne Joseph's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Trey Young read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Gilberto German showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Douglass Minton, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. West Dundee's Douglass Minton got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 34th match minute, FC Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sol Muniz to maneuver through the defense. In the 35th minute Douglass Minton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto German saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wayne Joseph sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 38 minutes, Clint Crocker mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Barcelona and the West Dundee players grew even worse after the yellow card. FC Barcelona's Gilberto German played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Douglass Minton in the 43rd minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wayne Joseph to strike the kick off in the second half. Luther Bass hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Douglass Minton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Gilberto German tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Douglass Minton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gilberto German having to make a save. Wayne Joseph sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilberto German made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ed Alfaro in the 66th minute of play. Gilberto German was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ed Alfaro showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 67 minute of play. Gilberto German stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ed Alfaro's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. Sol Muniz was shown his second yellow card after 75 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 76th match minute, FC Barcelona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sol Muniz to maneuver through the defense. Gilberto German made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ed Alfaro in the 77th minute of play. Gilberto German stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ed Alfaro's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Gilberto German made an important save on a dangerous shot by Douglass Minton in the 80th minute. In the 88th minute, Ed Alfaro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gilberto German. The goal made the score 0-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Douglass Minton got free with Gilberto German in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Douglass Minton could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Gilberto German made a huge save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. West Dundee had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
