Spectators: 6772 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1772, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Chad Singer started the match with the kick off. Angelo Roark made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chad Singer in the 5th minute of play. Kenny Pierce's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rich Mason read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Gardiner's Hal Temple got a free kick in the 12th minute. Glen Rock AFC's Marlon Fulton got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Kenny Pierce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neil Matthews fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Roark having to interfere. Rich Mason made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marlon Fulton in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Gardiner's goalkeeper Rich Mason, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Neil Matthews received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Angelo Roark tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Neil Matthews's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Angelo Roark was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marlon Fulton got free with Rich Mason in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kenny Pierce to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Marlon Fulton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Neil Matthews recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Angelo Roark took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chad Singer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kenny Pierce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marlon Fulton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rich Mason having to make a save. Neil Matthews succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-1 in the 63rd playminute. 69 minutes into the match, Kenny Pierce notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Gardiner's Rich Mason. Rich Mason was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 77 minutes, Neil Matthews managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gardiner's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neil Matthews was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kenny Pierce scored 2-1 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rich Mason, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gardiner's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
