The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luke Myles took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nathanial Carlson. Victor Stahl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Terry Canales in the 12th minute of the match. Domingo Wolfe hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 15th minute Luke Myles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nathanial Carlson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. F.C. Rapid's Victor Stahl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Terry Canales in the 18th minute of play. DeAngelo Ray charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed DeAngelo Ray the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Newman getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. DeAngelo Ray hit a great ball. Nathanial Carlson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luke Myles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chuck Morton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 29th minute Willy Bower shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nathanial Carlson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nathanial Carlson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luke Myles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 31 played minutes Newman got a freekick which was hit by Houston Mosley. Luke Myles struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Nathanial Carlson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for F.C. Rapid. Terry Canales received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Victor Stahl tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Willy Bower to make the kick off. Newman's Nathanial Carlson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Newman from getting a goal against them. After 57 minutes of play Newman's DeAngelo Ray was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. DeAngelo Ray kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. If Chuck Morton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chuck Morton in the 66th minute of play forced F.C. Rapid's goalkeeper Victor Stahl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Willy Bower had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luke Myles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathanial Carlson having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Newman's Houston Mosley got a free kick in the 76th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chuck Morton in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Victor Stahl saved F.C. Rapid from getting behind. F.C. Reuben Nguyen took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Victor Stahl.
