The supporters of Woodlands FC booed when High Point AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Milan Kimball didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Woodlands FC's Ahmed Mabry broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 14th minute, Terry Jacobsen made a precise shot to the right of Bill Spears. High Point AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After a rather tough play, Woodlands FC's Jonah Woodruff got a free kick in the 23rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in High Point AFC's zone, Renato Irwin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bill Spears came out of the goal and Renato Irwin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Diego Merritt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Renato Irwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Spears having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, Terry Jacobsen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Bill Spears was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 40th minute Diego Merritt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Lacy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodrigo Hawley kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Renato Irwin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Bill Spears tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Oscar Lacy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulysses Clifford in the 56th minute of play. Woodlands FC's Terry Jacobsen got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 58th minute, Willie Harris hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Terry Jacobsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Spears having to interfere. High Point AFC's Bill Spears proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save High Point AFC from getting a goal against them. When Milan Kimball fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored High Point AFC's protests and gave Milan Kimball a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, High Point AFC's Milan Kimball got a free kick in the 65th minute. Renato Irwin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Bill Spears tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Oscar Lacy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeremy Reeves in the 80th minute of the match.
