Spectators: 5013 (Terracing: 4001,
Seating: 1012, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Kurt Shapiro got the match started through his kick off. If Asher Hunter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 6th minute Asher Hunter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Scot Betts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Asher Hunter's late challenge caught a Pelham's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Asher Hunter helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Memphis United FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Asher Hunter hit a great ball. When Mark McLain fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pelham's protests and gave Mark McLain a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th minute, Mark McLain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 10 minutes into the match, Pelham's goal looked a bit too open when Kurt Shapiro came free, but Scot Betts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Scot Betts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Shapiro in the 16th minute of play. Kurt Shapiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Scot Betts having to make a save. In the 21st minute Kurt Shapiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Scot Betts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Raul Douglas fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pelham's protests and gave Raul Douglas a yellow card for diving instead. Raul Douglas kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. When Asher Hunter was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 27 minutes had been played. Shane Galindo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, Truman Yeager ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Scot Betts was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Reggie James sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lincoln Cross could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Richard John made a huge save. Truman Yeager might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Scot Betts. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Truman Yeager ran back to his position shaking his head. Ronny Whitfield struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Scot Betts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Memphis United FC. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Shane Galindo made a kick off. After 55 played minutes Pelham got a freekick which was hit by Mark McLain. Pelham's Scot Betts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reggie James in the 61st minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, Pelham's goalkeeper Scot Betts had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reggie James. Ronny Whitfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Scot Betts having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Reggie James got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Truman Yeager fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Scot Betts having to interfere. When Reggie James came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Memphis United FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reggie James couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Reggie James managed to get in a good position for a shot. Memphis United FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Reggie James was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Scot Betts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Scot Betts made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Reggie James sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Pelham getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Stanley Bragg hit a great ball. Reggie James did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-2 to the left of a surprised Scot Betts 84 minutes into the match. Truman Yeager struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Scot Betts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Memphis United FC. Kurt Shapiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reggie James got free with Scot Betts in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lincoln Cross received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Richard John tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Memphis United FC played a much better game than Pelham and deserved their victory. The Pelham players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
