A hard shot by Luke Caldwell from long distance, 10 minutes into the match, got Scot Betts's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Archie Vance received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Scot Betts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hank Cavazos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kip Whitt in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Scot Betts, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Mel Payne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shane Galindo in the 26th minute of the match. Caleb Lowry kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. When Lincoln Cross came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Pelham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lincoln Cross couldn't finish the play. After 28 played minutes Long Beach Sharks FC got a freekick which was hit by Tracy Quinones. Lincoln Cross fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mel Payne having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Hank Cavazos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Scot Betts was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Pelham's Stanley Bragg got a free kick in the 34th minute. In the 38th minute, Long Beach Sharks FC's Hank Cavazos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Long Beach Sharks FC's zone, Lincoln Cross stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mel Payne came out of the goal and Lincoln Cross tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Long Beach Sharks FC defense, Lincoln Cross kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mel Payne. The Long Beach Sharks FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mel Payne should have stopped the shot. Archie Vance received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Scot Betts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Shane Galindo to strike the kick off in the second half. When Long Beach Sharks FC's Archie Vance in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Scot Betts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hank Cavazos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 80 minutes into the game, Denny Zapata was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pelham's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Long Beach Sharks FC the free kick. Denny Zapata hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Hank Cavazos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Scot Betts having to interfere. Lincoln Cross struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Mel Payne didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pelham. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
