The referee ignored Independent Outdoor Union's protests and gave Errol Becerra a yellow card for diving instead. Nicholas Coffey hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute, Erik Henley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kory McKenna in the 14th minute of play forced Independent Outdoor Union's goalkeeper Ignacio Metz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Norman Turner might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Harvey Brown. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Norman Turner ran back to his position shaking his head. Independent Outdoor Union's Ignacio Metz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kory McKenna in the 21st minute of play. Loren Hendrix hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 27 minutes in the game Wade Compton after having made a beautiful turn got a great opportunity to score and fired away a shot that went just to the left past a relieved Harvey Brown. A very good opportunity. In the 33rd match minute, Scottsdale FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Loren Hendrix to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute Independent Outdoor Union were awarded a corner. Wade Compton went to the cornerflag to take it. Norman Turner recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Erik Henley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Harvey Brown having to make a save. When Norman Turner came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Independent Outdoor Union fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Norman Turner couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Orlando Ziegler to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Scottsdale FC's goalkeeper Harvey Brown, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rene Rodgers's late challenge caught a Scottsdale FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rene Rodgers helped the player get up and apologised. In the 54th minute, Rene Rodgers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Scottsdale FC's Orlando Ziegler in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Independent Outdoor Union's goalie prevented a goal. 59 minutes into the match, Scottsdale FC's Murray Murphy sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ignacio Metz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the last second Ignacio Metz throw himself and got hold of the ball when Orlando Ziegler in the 68thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. If Norman Turner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erik Henley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erik Henley struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Harvey Brown didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independent Outdoor Union. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Ziegler in the 84th minute of play forced Independent Outdoor Union's goalkeeper Ignacio Metz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Orlando Ziegler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
