Stanford Arias struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Sammy Salter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for East Newark FC. In the 6th minute, Stanford Arias fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 7th match minute, Chivas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto Logan to maneuver through the defense. If Lloyd Hopson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, East Newark FC's goal looked a bit too open when Trenton Mathews came free, but Alec Houston reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pat Escobedo charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pat Escobedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Chivas FC:s Sammy Salter showed great skill when he stopped Robbie Scott:s penalty. Alec Houston took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roberto Logan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Rocky Crews fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored East Newark FC's protests and gave Rocky Crews a yellow card for diving instead. Rocky Crews hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Sammy Salter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rocky Crews in the 29th minute of play. If Trenton Mathews had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to East Newark FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Forrest Bingham hit a great ball. Chivas FC's Trenton Mathews got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Trenton Mathews had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 47th minute of the match Claude Feliciano shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alec Houston showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rocky Crews to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Rocky Crews managed to get in a good position for a shot. East Newark FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rocky Crews was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sammy Salter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Chivas FC booed when East Newark FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Lockwood didn't get a good kick on the ball. A long shot from Claude Feliciano in the 57th minute of play was well struck, but Alec Houston made a really good save at the right post. Stanford Arias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sammy Salter having to make a save. In the 66th minute of the match, Lloyd Hopson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Alec Houston was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 71 minutes into the match, Chivas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rocky Crews came free, but Sammy Salter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sammy Salter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stanford Arias, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. With a little luck, East Newark FC's Alec Houston got control of the ball when Lloyd Hopson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Chivas FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented East Newark FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
