Chivas FC's Sammy Salter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Willie Knapp in the 5th minute of play. After having played for 6 minutes, Ronny McRae managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arslanian FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronny McRae was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lucero Antoine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trenton Mathews in the 8th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 9th minute of the game. One of Arslanian FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Chivas FC:s goal. Ronny McRae sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 23 minutes into the match, Chivas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronny McRae came free, but Sammy Salter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lucero Antoine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roberto Logan in the 24th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Chivas FC's Jon Spence got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 29th match minute, Chivas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roberto Logan to maneuver through the defense. Lucero Antoine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trenton Mathews, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Arslanian FC's zone, Lloyd Hopson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lucero Antoine came out of the goal and Lloyd Hopson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 45 minutes, Ronny McRae managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arslanian FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronny McRae was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 47 minutes into the game, Trenton Mathews recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lucero Antoine. Trenton Mathews showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thurman Turner to make the kick off. After 58 minutes, Pat Escobedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chivas FC and the Arslanian FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sammy Salter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronny McRae, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Hamdi Wahbi kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. A collision led to Arslanian FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Willie Knapp hit a great ball. Jed Vera could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Sammy Salter made a huge save. Pat Escobedo got his second yellow card in the match during the 87th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 88 played minutes Chivas FC got a freekick which was hit by Pat Escobedo. Lloyd Hopson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucero Antoine read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Sammy Salter made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Jed Vera sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 97 minutes, Odell Cates managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arslanian FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Odell Cates was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Chivas FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
