The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dirk Mitchell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lloyd Hopson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Francesco Hyde spun around in front of the goal 9 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Chivas FC's goal. A hard shot 11 in the game by Francesco Hyde from a close distance when the talented Sammy Salter managed to make a qualified save. Chivas FC's players were relieved. Jarvis Feliciano hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Deon Rocha hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. A collision led to Chivas FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Deon Rocha hit a great ball. Sammy Salter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mario Eastman, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Mario Eastman might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sammy Salter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mario Eastman ran back to his position shaking his head. Sammy Salter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dante Milton, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Sammy Salter was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Francesco Hyde showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 32 minute of play. Downriver's Dirk Mitchell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lloyd Hopson in the 37th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Chivas FC's zone, Francesco Hyde stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sammy Salter came out of the goal and Francesco Hyde tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francesco Hyde in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sammy Salter saved Chivas FC from getting behind. Sammy Salter made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Francesco Hyde sent off a good shot on target.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Trenton Mathews was the one to do the kick off. Mario Eastman might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sammy Salter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mario Eastman ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francesco Hyde in the 57th minute of play forced Chivas FC's goalkeeper Sammy Salter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 63 minutes, Zack Hansen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Downriver and the Chivas FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Zack Hansen kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Chivas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Francesco Hyde came free, but Sammy Salter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Francesco Hyde came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Downriver fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francesco Hyde couldn't finish the play. Downriver's Weston Oberle got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Downriver fans' excitement grew in the 95th match minute when Downriver's Francesco Hyde looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. There was no doubt that Downriver were the better team. Downriver's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
