An unexpectedly hard shot by Merle Simon in the 10th minute of play forced Lechia Gdańsk's goalkeeper Todd Goins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Gooners's goal looked a bit too open when Collin Vang came free, but Johnson Stanton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute Lechia Gdańsk were awarded a corner. Cedric Lopez went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Cedric Lopez almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Gooners's Johnson Stanton did a great save. Gooners's Johnson Stanton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Collin Vang in the 31st minute of play. Darron Calderwood's late challenge caught a Gooners's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Darron Calderwood helped the player get up and apologised. Johnson Stanton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sherwood Compton in the 34th minute. After a rather tough play, Gooners's Preston Willard got a free kick in the 35th minute. Johnson Stanton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Collin Vang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jermaine Avila in the 45th minute of play forced Lechia Gdańsk's goalkeeper Todd Goins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johnson Stanton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sherwood Compton in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Collin Vang made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Merle Simon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gooners's supporters rose to their feet, but Merle Simon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Todd Goins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 54th minute, Dudley Ferris hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sherwood Compton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnson Stanton having to interfere. Sherwood Compton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Collin Vang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sherwood Compton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnson Stanton having to interfere. Johnson Stanton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sherwood Compton, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Giovanni Toth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Merle Simon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 96th minute by Jermaine Avila got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The Lechia Gdańsk supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Gooners's performance. The match ended with a win for Gooners.
