After a defensive mix-up in Glen Carbon's zone, Josh Dugan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wes Dahlstrom came out of the goal and Josh Dugan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brant Grant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hans Cavazos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Lamb having to interfere. Ezra Crosby charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ezra Crosby the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Carbondale getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Ezra Crosby hit a great ball. When Glen Carbon's Romeo Golden in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Carbondale's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 34 minutes, Brant Grant managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carbondale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brant Grant was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Geoffrey Hurley during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Glen Carbon's Geoffrey Hurley got a free kick in the 38th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brant Grant in the 47th minute of play forced Glen Carbon's goalkeeper Wes Dahlstrom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romeo Golden was the one to do the kick off. Josh Dugan scored 2-1 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wes Dahlstrom, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th minute of the match Austin Snow sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wes Dahlstrom skillfully saved the ball. With an all-out effort, Glen Carbon's Rolando Lamb threw himself towards the right post 93 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Romeo Golden, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Carbondale's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
