Spectators: 7728 (Terracing: 5797, Seating: 1777, VIP seats: 154) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jake Henson started the match with the kick off. In the 4th match minute, HBG Knoxville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kermit Crowley to maneuver through the defense. Woods Cross FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Solomon Peoples in the 7th minute. After a rather tough play, Woods Cross FC's Trent Echols got a free kick in the 8th minute. HBG Knoxville's Louie Crane couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 9th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Woods Cross FC. Giovanni Brower might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gregory Kitchen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giovanni Brower ran back to his position shaking his head. 12 minutes into the match, Woods Cross FC's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Donaldson came free, but Gregory Kitchen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mel Souza got free with Lorenzo Cooke in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 15 minutes, Jerrod Salazar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the HBG Knoxville and the Woods Cross FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th match minute, HBG Knoxville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerrod Salazar to maneuver through the defense. 16 minutes into the match, Jake Henson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lorenzo Cooke. HBG Knoxville's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jake Henson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With a little luck, HBG Knoxville's Lorenzo Cooke got control of the ball when Mel Souza tried to sneak it across the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Woods Cross FC's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Donaldson came free, but Gregory Kitchen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th minute, Patrick Donaldson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gregory Kitchen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Gregory Kitchen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Donaldson, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Gregory Kitchen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Giovanni Brower went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. If Jake Henson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute of the match, Jake Henson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Lorenzo Cooke saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Woods Cross FC's Mel Souza got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Patrick Donaldson made the kick off in the second half. Stephan Goodson's late challenge caught a HBG Knoxville's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stephan Goodson helped the player get up and apologised. Patrick Donaldson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Gregory Kitchen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st minute, HBG Knoxville's Giovanni Brower dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. After 64 played minutes Woods Cross FC got a freekick which was hit by Denis Rice. Patrick Donaldson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Gregory Kitchen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 67 played minutes Woods Cross FC got a freekick which was hit by Stephan Goodson. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giovanni Brower got free with Gregory Kitchen in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lorenzo Cooke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jake Henson, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 73rd minute Jake Henson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lorenzo Cooke saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Patrick Donaldson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrick Donaldson in the 81st minute of play forced Woods Cross FC's goalkeeper Gregory Kitchen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mel Souza struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Lorenzo Cooke didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Woods Cross FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jake Henson in the 86th minute of play forced HBG Knoxville's goalkeeper Lorenzo Cooke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jake Henson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute, Mel Souza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lorenzo Cooke was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. The HBG Knoxville supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing HBG Knoxville would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
