The referee ignored Shazam FC's protests and gave Juan Spivey a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Shazam FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 38th minute. Penalty! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Merle Spicer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Odell Hartley's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Alfonsina Storni's zone, Sherman Larson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roberto Wetzel came out of the goal and Sherman Larson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brice Stout blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Merle Spicer having to make a save.
