Spectators: 6000 (Terracing: 4600, Seating: 1250, VIP seats: 150) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Dylan Dawkins took the kick off in the first half of the match. Sean Dugan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Ezra Hendrix tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Charlotte booed when NY92 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rusty Hale didn't get a good kick on the ball. A long shot from Shane Gamble in the 6th minute of play was well struck, but Ezra Hendrix made a really good save at the right post. After having played for 15 minutes, Vito Randolph managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. NY92's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vito Randolph was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dylan Dawkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfred Dozier having to interfere. Sean Dugan's late challenge caught a NY92's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sean Dugan helped the player get up and apologised. Sean Dugan kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Vito Randolph fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfred Dozier having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, NY92's goalkeeper Ezra Hendrix had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rory Dugan. When Ollie Swanson fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NY92's protests and gave Ollie Swanson a yellow card for diving instead. After 33 played minutes NY92 got a freekick which was hit by Ollie Swanson. Charlotte's Stan Landrum got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ezra Hendrix showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stan Landrum, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stan Landrum was the one to do the kick off. Dylan Dawkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfred Dozier having to interfere. Dylan Dawkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Alfred Dozier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, NY92's Harvey McDonough got a free kick in the 60th minute. Shane Gamble, 61 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 63 minutes into the match, NY92's goal looked a bit too open when Stan Landrum came free, but Ezra Hendrix reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to NY92 getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Rocky Shipman hit a great ball. Charlotte's Stan Landrum got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 67th minute of the match Edmund Melendez sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ezra Hendrix skillfully saved the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stan Landrum in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ezra Hendrix saved NY92 from getting behind. Alfred Dozier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dylan Dawkins in the 72nd minute of the match. After 75 minutes of play, Charlotte's Stan Landrum made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ezra Hendrix was left in no man's land by his defense there! 80 minutes into the game, Stan Landrum cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Ezra Hendrix was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 83rd minute, Sean Dugan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stan Landrum might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ezra Hendrix. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stan Landrum ran back to his position shaking his head. Sean Dugan struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Ezra Hendrix didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Charlotte. When Dylan Dawkins came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the NY92 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dylan Dawkins couldn't finish the play. If Vito Randolph had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Charlotte had won after a very even match.
