After a rather tough play, Sporting Olathe's Stephen Hough got a free kick in the 8th minute. Norberto Cobb could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Erik Gorman made a huge save. Elvis Chavez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedict Owens in the 14th minute of play. When Nelson Garza was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 14 minutes had been played. The supporters of Sporting Olathe booed when La Scaloneta FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelson Garza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Sporting Olathe's Rueben Epperson tried to score from far away in the 16th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 17 played minutes La Scaloneta FC got a freekick which was hit by Austin Sinclair. After a rather tough play, Sporting Olathe's Moses Moses got a free kick in the 20th minute. Erik Gorman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denny Winters in the 26th minute of play. Denny Winters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 41 played minutes La Scaloneta FC got a freekick which was hit by Austin Sinclair. After the first half Sporting Olathe were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Denny Winters to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Austin Sinclair during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind La Scaloneta FC's goalkeeper Elvis Chavez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 53 played minutes La Scaloneta FC got a freekick which was hit by Austin Sinclair. Elvis Chavez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stephen Hough, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Denny Winters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Gorman having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sterling Strong in the 59th minute of play forced Sporting Olathe's goalkeeper Erik Gorman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erik Gorman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After 79 played minutes La Scaloneta FC got a freekick which was hit by Austin Sinclair. Austin Sinclair struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Erik Gorman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Scaloneta FC. After having played for 87 minutes, Denny Winters managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Scaloneta FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denny Winters was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Denny Winters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denny Winters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Austin Sinclair got his second yellow card in the match during the 95th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the La Scaloneta FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
