Spectators: 6500 (Terracing: 5300, Seating: 1150, VIP seats: 50) Flagstaff's Kermit Regan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Jon Story cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Simon Rainey was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 5th minute, Woody Mixon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Kermit Regan came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Flagstaff fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kermit Regan couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Club Atletico Peñarol getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Quincy Koenig hit a great ball. Kirk Miranda took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Laurence Boles. Laurence Boles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Gilbert Weston could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Simon Rainey made a huge save. Laurence Boles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kermit Regan in the 29th minute of the match. Laurence Boles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kirk Miranda in the 31st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atletico Peñarol's zone, Kermit Regan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laurence Boles came out of the goal and Kermit Regan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kermit Regan struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Laurence Boles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flagstaff. After the first half Flagstaff were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jon Story made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Peñarol's goalkeeper Laurence Boles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kirk Miranda. In the 56th minute Quincy Koenig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simon Rainey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Archie Adams kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, Flagstaff's goal looked a bit too open when Gilbert Weston came free, but Simon Rainey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Kirk Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Club Atletico Peñarol's Laurence Boles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kermit Regan in the 62nd minute of play. Kermit Regan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurence Boles having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Kermit Regan reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Laurence Boles. The goal made the score 1-3. Kermit Regan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Laurence Boles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kermit Regan in the 79th minute of play forced Club Atletico Peñarol's goalkeeper Laurence Boles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When A.J. Sanderson fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Flagstaff's protests and gave A.J. Sanderson a yellow card for diving instead. A.J. Sanderson hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. After 85 played minutes Club Atletico Peñarol got a freekick which was hit by Jon Story. If Winfred Egan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 93 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Kermit Regan came free, but Laurence Boles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Flagstaff players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
