After some careless play in the Chicago FC defense, Paul Tilley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Clint Benoit. The Chicago FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Clint Benoit should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Chicago FC's Brant Powell slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rodrick Hawk. That made the score 1-1 after 44 minutes of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After a defensive mix-up in Chicago FC's zone, Ray Novak stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clint Benoit came out of the goal and Ray Novak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ricardo garcia Bernal's Paul Tilley got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ray Novak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wade Weldon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Ricardo garcia Bernal's Lyle Otero got a free kick in the 71st minute. The supporters of Ricardo garcia Bernal booed when Chicago FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wade Weldon didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Ray Novak managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ricardo garcia Bernal's supporters rose to their feet, but Ray Novak was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clint Benoit breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paul Tilley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clint Benoit having to interfere. Ray Novak's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clint Benoit read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. In the 81st minute, Paul Tilley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 93rd minute, Logan Moses hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rodrick Hawk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wade Weldon's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
