After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Dean Campbell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chandler AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dean Campbell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peter Cuevas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ali Carrier's late challenge caught a Chandler AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ali Carrier helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd match minute, Chandler AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dean Campbell to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Chandler AFC's zone, Quincy Burks stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bo Engel came out of the goal and Quincy Burks tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Dean Campbell fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chandler AFC's protests and gave Dean Campbell a yellow card for diving instead. Dean Campbell hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Quentin Marshall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 42 played minutes, New Whiteland FC's Lee Whitney shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bo Engel came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in New Whiteland FC reached it. Bo Engel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quentin Marshall, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute, Rich Norris hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

A hard shot by Brian Dent from long distance, 53 minutes into the match, got Bo Engel's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After 55 minutes, Nick Strickland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chandler AFC and the New Whiteland FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of Chandler AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of New Whiteland FC:s goal. Lee Whitney shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Alfonzo Epperson hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 58th minute of the match Lee Whitney shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bo Engel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Quentin Marshall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bo Engel having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quincy Burks in the 66th minute of play forced Chandler AFC's goalkeeper Bo Engel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chandler AFC's Bo Engel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Quentin Marshall in the 91st minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Chandler AFC fans cheered their team off the field, for while New Whiteland FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
