Dean Aldrich came out of the goal and Sherman Abernathy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sherman Abernathy scored 1-2 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dean Aldrich, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 41 minutes into the match, Armona's Rex Levine sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dean Aldrich narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Sherman Abernathy put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Dean Aldrich. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 53 minutes of play, Armona's Sherman Abernathy made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dean Aldrich was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Rex Levine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gregg Cabourne charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gregg Cabourne the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dean Aldrich was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Fabian Whitehead. In the 94th minute Rex Levine shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Aldrich saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
