The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dallas Grove took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from James Sykes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th minute of the match Mitch Akers sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bret Rivera skillfully saved the ball. 14 minutes into the match, James Sykes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dallas Grove. Thousand Oaks's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that James Sykes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 18 played minutes, Pontotoc's Joel Dickens shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dallas Grove came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pontotoc reached it. In the 22nd minute, Rueben Snyder made a precise shot to the right of Dallas Grove. Thousand Oaks's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Joel Dickens took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dallas Grove. Thousand Oaks's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Graig Estrada kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Rodolfo Fuller's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Bret Rivera firmly grabbed it by the left post. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

In the 52nd minute, James Sykes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Dallas Grove, passed just outside the right post. Thousand Oaks's Dallas Grove proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Thousand Oaks from getting a goal against them. After 55 minutes, Rodolfo Fuller made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Pontotoc's Bret Rivera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 60 minutes into the match, Pontotoc's goal looked a bit too open when Joshua Dugan came free, but Bret Rivera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 1-3 became the score in the 64th minute when James Sykes elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by James Sykes in the 78th minute of play forced Thousand Oaks's goalkeeper Dallas Grove to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 84 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Joshua Dugan sped through Pontotoc's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bret Rivera. Dallas Grove made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Winford Arredondo sent off a good shot on target. The Thousand Oaks fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Pontotoc were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
